Ziarat E Jamia Kabeer: A Comprehensive Form of Ziyarah for the Ahlul Bayt
Ziarat E Jamia Kabeer is a form of ziyarah (or visitation) that is recited by the Shia Muslims when they visit the shrines of the Imams of the Ahlul Bayt (peace be upon them), the family and descendants of Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him and his family). This ziyarah was taught by Imam Ali al-Naqi al-Hadi (peace be upon him), the tenth Imam of the Shia, to Musa ibn Abdullah al-Nakha'i, who asked him to teach him a ziyarah that he could recite whenever he visited any of the Imams. The Imam said, "This is a ziyarah that encompasses all of our rights, so memorize it and teach it to our Shia."
The ziyarah begins with salutations to the Ahlul Bayt as the household of prophethood, the location of the divine mission, the frequently visited by the angels, the destination of the divine revelation, the core of mercy, the hoarders of knowledge, the ultimate degree of forbearance, the origins of generosity, the leaders of all nations, the sustainers of bounties, the foundations of the dutiful, the pillars of the upright, the maintainers of the servants (of Allah), the props of the lands, the doors to true faith, the trustees of the All-beneficent (Allah), the descendants of the prophets, the choice of the messengers, and the offspring of the select of the Lord of the worlds.
The ziyarah then continues with salutations to each Imam by name and title, praising their virtues and achievements, and asking Allah to bless them and hasten their reappearance. The ziyarah also includes supplications for oneself and for other believers, seeking forgiveness, guidance, protection, and intercession from Allah through His chosen ones.
The ziyarah ends with a declaration of loyalty and love to the Ahlul Bayt, a disavowal of their enemies and oppressors, and a pledge to follow their teachings and emulate their examples.
